Tigres UANL 0 Monterrey 1: Visitors draw first blood in Champions League final

Nicolas Sanchez scored the only goal of the game as Monterrey edged hosts Tigres UANL 1-0 in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final.

Sanchez s 43rd-minute goal gave Monterrey a slender lead following Tuesday s opener away at Estadio Universitario de Nuevo Leon in the all-Mexican decider.

Two-time runners-up Tigres – who have never won the competition – overcame Santos Laguna 5-3 in the semi-finals, while Monterrey humiliated Sporting Kansas City 10-2.

Tigres had gone nine matches unbeaten on home soil in all competitions but Monterrey snapped that run thanks to Sanchez prior to half-time.

Mourinho hits out at officials after Roma draw with Napoli

Jose Mourinho said he was ashamed by the officiating of Roma s 1-1 Serie A draw at Napoli, believing the hosts should have conceded a penalty and had a man sent off.

Mourinho also appeared to suggest teams fighting for the Serie A title were being favoured by officials in a post-match outburst, after Stephan El Shaarawy s last-minute goal sealed a valuable point for the Giallorossi.

Roma trailed for 80 minutes in Naples after Lorenzo Insigne netted his eighth penalty of the season, the highest tally among players in Europe s top five leagues this season.

But El Shaarawy s 91st-minute strike kept Roma within five points of fourth-placed Juventus, and represented the winger s third last-minute goal of the Serie A season, more than any other player.

Teenage kicks and Manchester derby delight – Rooney´s top goals at club level

Wayne Rooney s illustrious career will continue in the United States after his move to DC United was finally confirmed on Thursday.

After a solitary season back at Everton, the former England international has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal to join the MLS side as a designated franchise player, becoming the latest big name from the Premier League to head stateside.

The 32-year-old burst onto the scene as a teenager with his boyhood club before going on to become Manchester United s all-time leading scorer, managing 253 goals in 559 appearances in all competitions.

His 13-year stay at United which included winning the Premier League, Champions League and both domestic cups ended in 2017 when he returned to Goodison Park, giving him the opportunity to pla…

Ronaldo to Juventus: Stars who played for Real Madrid and the Italian champions

Cristiano Ronaldo agreed a sensational move from Real Madrid to Juventus on Tuesday.

The five-time Ballon d Or winner stated his desire to start a new cycle after nine years in Madrid, with Juve stumping up €112million to secure his signature.

It is strange that despite the respective size of each club, only 10 other players have represented both during their careers.

We give you the run down on how each of them fared.

Alvaro Morata

Morata was a product of the Madrid academy who, like many before him, had to move away to find his feet. After joining Juventus in 2014 for €20m, he won successive Serie A and Coppa Italia doubles before being bought back by Madrid, who he scored twice against to eliminate from the 2014-15 Champions Le…

Chelsea linked with former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry

Chelsea are interested in signing former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry, according to . Gnabry is out of contract at Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, and no new deal is in place at the moment. Defending European champions Chelsea are keen on the Germany international winger, but they want to secure his services on a free transfer at the end of next season, if, of course, Gnabry does not sign a new deal with Bayern.

Chelsea have already shown interest in Gnabry and have asked about him. The winger is doing well at Bayern at the moment, but he is not entirely happy with playing more defensively under head coach Julian Nagelsmann. The former Arsenal player likes London, according to the report.

Arsenal let Gnabry leave in 2016. After a spell at Werder Bremen, the 26-year…

Bale agent brands Spurs return talk ´rubbish´

Gareth Bale s agent has branded talk of a Tottenham bid to bring the forward back from Real Madrid rubbish .

A report in Marca has claimed Spurs have contacted Madrid about the Wales international and are prepared to pay a fee of between €50million and €60m to sign him.

The story adds that any possible negotiations would be hampered by the fact the Premier League club could only afford around half of Bale s Madrid wages.

It has long been suggested Bale will move on in the transfer window as it is believed head coach Zinedine Zidane does not consider him a key part of his plans.

However, the 30-year-old s agent, Jonathan Barnett, says there is no truth to the latest Spurs rumours.

I don t comment on rubbish, was his brief response to talkSPORT…

Prediction: Monza vs Juventus

Best Odds: 19/20

Bookmaker:

Hoping to briefly climb to the top of the Serie A standings, Juventus will travel to the Stadio Brianteo on Friday night when they meet Monza.

Monza

Starting with the hosts, while Monza might have been disappointed after narrowly missing out on a top-half finish among Italy’s elite, Raffaele Palladino’s men have their sights firmly set on mounting another 1op-10 charge. However, while the Reds might open Friday’s showdown sat just three points adrift of skyrocketing into the European places, the one-time Juventus winger finds his squad in the midst of a recent wobble. Marking their return from November’s international break with a 1-1 draw away at Cagliari, the Biancorossi have recorded just a single win from any of their pre…

Middlesbrough 3 Swansea City 0: Negredo nets twice in routine win

Alvaro Negredo s first-half double helped Middlesbrough to a 3-0 win over Swansea City in Saturday s Premier League encounter at the Riverside Stadium.

The Spanish striker had scored just three times in his previous 15 league outings this term, but took his tally for 2016-17 to five with a sublime finish on the turn and a converted penalty.

Marten de Roon put the match to bed early in the second half when he tapped home from close range.

Back-to-back defeats had seen Aitor Karanka s men drop to 17th place in the table heading into the game, a mere three points clear of the drop zone, but they find themselves in mid-table safety again following this impressive victory.

It was not all good news for Middlesbrough, however, as they lost Viktor Fischer to an a…

Rossi inspires Crew comeback to end Inter Miami´s Leagues Cup defence

The Columbus Crew came from two goals down to put an end to Inter Miami s Leagues Cup defence, winning 3-2 at the Lower.com Field on Wednesday.

Matias Rojas and Diego Gomez had given the visitors a comfortable lead just beyond the hour-mark, only for Christian Ramirez s strike to spark an unlikely turnaround.

Diego Rossi netted twice in 11 second half minutes to confirm the win as Wilfried Nancy s side advanced to the quarter-finals where they will face New York City FC.

Despite still being without Lionel Messi, Miami started brightly and were rewarded for their fast start when Rojas headed past Nicholas Hagen in the 10th minute.

Columbus finished the opening 45 the better side, but found themselves two goals down after the break as Gomez curled home …

Rashford: Difficult to play my best football under Mourinho at Man Utd

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford admitted former manager Jose Mourinho s style of play prevented him from playing his best football.

Mourinho spent two and a half years in charge of United, where he worked with Rashford before being sacked by the Premier League giants in 2018.

Rashford scored five league goals during Mourinho s first season in 2016-17 and followed that up with another seven in 2017-18 as the Portuguese often preferred either Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Romelu Lukaku at the time.

The 23-year-old Rashford, who won the Europa League, EFL Cup and Community Shield during Mourinho s tenure, finished with just 15 Premier League goals under the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss prior to his sacking midway through the 2018-19 season.
